5 Tips for Feeling Fabulous This Fall

Summer is beginning to fade and cooler temperatures are creeping in here in eastern NC. The leaves have already begun to change into vibrant colors and are starting to fall to the ground. A new season is upon us. The days will become shorter and before we know it the holidays will be here.

It is far too easy to get caught up in the madness and excitement of this season and forget to take care of ourselves. So here are my top 5 tips for feeling fabulous this fall.

1. Eat healthy
It is important to eat healthy and nutritious foods. This time of year is peak harvest time for many vitamin and anti-oxidant rich fruits and vegetables. Apples, brussels sprouts, pears, cauliflower, squash, sweet potatoes, pomegranates, grapefruit, kale, swiss chard, spinach, lettuces and of course Pumpkins.  Head over to your nears farmers market or produce stand and see whats available.

2. Immune Boosters
Keep your immune system in top shape by getting enough sleep each night, 7-8 hours at least. Drink plenty of water each day. We take a spoonful of raw local honey each day to help boost our immune system. When we are feeling under the weather I add 1/4 tsp of cinnamon to the honey as well. Garlic is also known for boosting immune health.

3. Exercise
The weather is so nice this time of year so grab the dog and go for a walk, play in the leaves with the kids, or chase the chickens around. Remember to stretch first and don't push yourself harder than necessary. Just get up, get out and get movin'.
*Disclaimer: always consult your physician before beginning a new exercise regimen. Don't hurt yourself.*

4. Plan Ahead
Set yourself up for success. Get organized. Plan/pack and make things ahead of time to avoid stress, forgetfulness and/or running late during the rush of day to day activities. Plan out the weeks meals and get the prep work out of the way at the beginning of the week. Set up a weekly schedule to get chores done ect. Your future self will thank you.

5. Slow Down
Do not allow yourself to become so busy that you miss the beauty and magic of the season. Live in the moment, appreciate the beauty of nature and be present with those around you. Disconnect from the distractions and really savor the season.

  1. Love it! My absolutely favorite thing about Fall is the cozy weather. It's so nice to curl up on the couch with a blanket, a good book, and a mug of tea. I love that life slows down a bit in the Fall, there's less work to do in the garden and we just get to enjoy the harvest and relax.
