Chocolate Pretzel Cookies - Recipe

I just love the combination of salty pretzels and sweet chocolate together. I usually satisfy this craving with chocolate dipped pretzels but this time I wanted to mix things up a bit. I found this recipe and was so excited about it I made them right away.

Chocolate Pretzel Cookies
Recipe adapted from Family Circle Magazine

1 Cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup light brown sugar
1 large egg
1/2 tsp real maple syrup
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup roughly chopped mini pretzels + 30 whole pretzels for garnish

Heat oven to 350. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In another bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar for 2 minutes. Beat in egg and maple syrup until just combined. Pour in flour mixture and mix on low until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips and chopped pretzels.

Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart on parchment lined cookie sheets, press down lightly to flatten and gently press whole pretzel on top of each cookie. Bake for 11 minutes and enjoy!
